Format: 5 questions, each with one picture + one HSK 4 keyword

HSK 4 writing Part 2 shows a picture plus a single HSK 4 keyword and asks you to write ONE sentence using that word. With only 5 questions but 5 marks each (25% of writing), getting these right is critical. Memorize 5 universal templates and you'll always have a fallback.

5 Strategies for HSK 4 Picture-Word Sentences / 5 个应试策略

Template 1 — Action + person (人 + 正在 + Verb)

If the picture shows someone doing something: '[人] + 正在 + [verb] + [object/place].' Add 看起来很 + adj for extra detail.

Example Picture: woman eating; word 美味 → 这位女士正在吃美味的饭菜。 Picture: kid running; word 高兴 → 那个孩子正在高兴地跑步。

Template 2 — Description + emotion ([人] + 觉得/感到/非常 + adj)

If the keyword is an emotion (高兴/难过/激动/紧张/失望/担心): '[人] + 因为... + 觉得/感到/非常 + [keyword].'

Example Picture: graduating student; word 激动 → 看到自己毕业的照片，他非常激动。 Picture: lost dog; word 难过 → 找不到小狗，孩子很难过。

Template 3 — Object/concept ([名词] + 是 + adj/n / [名词] + 对...很重要)

If the keyword is a noun: '[noun] + 是 + ... ' or '[noun] + 对 + 我/我们 + 来说 + 很重要/很有用.'

Example Picture: keys on table; word 钥匙 → 这是我家的钥匙。 / 钥匙对每个人都很重要。 Picture: laptop; word 电脑 → 这台电脑是我刚买的。

Template 4 — Comparison/condition (使用比 / 像 / 跟…一样)

If the picture invites comparison: 'A 比 B + adj' or 'A 像 B 一样.' Useful when picture shows two items.

Example Picture: tall vs short tree; word 高 → 这棵树比那棵高得多。 Picture: child looks like parent; word 像 → 这个孩子长得像他爸爸。

Template 5 — Suggestion/advice (我们应该/最好/不要 + V)

If the keyword is abstract (健康/环境/习惯/经验): '我们应该 + Verb' or '最好 + Verb' or '为了 X，我们应该 + Verb.'

Example Picture: someone exercising; word 健康 → 为了身体健康，我们应该多锻炼。 Picture: littering scene; word 环境 → 我们应该一起保护环境。

⚠ Common HSK 4 Mistakes to Avoid / 常见错误

Writing more than one sentence — you'll lose marks. ONE sentence per question.
Not using the keyword — if you don't include the printed word, you score 0. Read the keyword TWICE before writing.
Writing a sentence that doesn't match the picture — graders check both picture relevance AND keyword usage.
Forgetting to end with 。 — punctuation matters in HSK 4 grading.
Using grammar above HSK 4 level — stick to simple structures, you don't need to impress.
